Skier headed for worlds

Rosslander and Black Jack Skier Rebecca Reid, 17, is preparing to race in the Under 23 Junior World Championships Jan. 24-31 in Hinterzarten, Germany.
She left for Germany last week and was excited to be representing her country.
“It’s cool. I’m happy for her. I know she’s excited,” said brother Jameson.
“We’ve all been skiing since we were really young and we’re happy for her.”
Reid secured her spot after winning the long-distance race and placing third in the sprint race at the World Junior Trials in Valcartier, Que.
Reid is joined by Joey Burton from the Overlander Ski club in Kamloops and seven other juniors from across Canada.
Reid scored two silver medals at the 2006 B.C. winter games in Trail as a 13-year-old. Then in 2008 she won a juvenile gold medal for team B.C. at the nationals.
