Mr. Galbraith was helped a great deal by the arrival of Fred Turnbull in June, 1907. Mr. Turnbull, who had worked with Mr. Galbraith at the Guelph Mercury, became a mainstay of the operation, working through a number of positions and joining Mr. Galbraith as a partner for a period. Ultimately, he became honorary chairman of the board, a title he held until his death in 1979.
The Red Deer Advocate was officially incorporated as a company on September 30, 1909.
A second newspaper, the Red Deer News, which had been launched early in 1905, continued to publish every Wednesday until it was incorporated with The Red Deer Advocate in 1926.
The next major change in the Advocate's status came in 1958, when the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo Ltd. acquired it from Mr. Galbraith's son, Francis Phillip Galbraith, who had been publisher and editor since his father's death in 1934. He continued as publisher until his death in 1970.
